National Weather Service Northern Indiana There were power outages and sporadic damage to trees and/or power lines from the wind combined with saturated soils, and the heavy, wet snow. Wind gusts were as high as 35 to 55 mph, with a few near 60 mph. ![]() See the precipitation tab or the storm report tab for more details. ![]() Many of the area rivers went into minor flood stage. There were several reports of flooded roadways, full ditches, and ponding of water on the roads. Precipitation totals ranged from 1 to 2 inches in many locations, with the highest water-equivalent measurement of 2.74 inches near Ora, IN.Farther south and east, totals were 1 to 2 inches or less as these areas received either a rain/snow/sleet mixture or all rain. The greatest snowfall reported was 10 inches near Jonesville, MI. Snow totals ranged from 3 to 8 inches in most locations, highest across far northern Indiana and southern Lower Michigan, and extreme northwest Ohio.Precipitation began as mostly rain then gradually became either all snow, or a wintry mix of rain, snow, and sleet. A multi-faceted storm brought a wintry mix of rain, snow, and sleet in addition to blustery winds, heavy rain, and flooding to the NWS Northern Indiana forecast area on March 3, 2023. ![]()
